SIX STEPS TO A PROJECT

The backdrop to the action recorded in Six steps to a Project is a well known bar in Mexico City. A group of film extras are summoned to recreate one minute of “real life” in the bar. Several other issues are discussed, including a specific action which they will be asked to perform.. However, the spectator is faced with the ambivalence of the work that speaks of the project of a project that doesn’t quite materialize. This is all shown on two projections and one monitor. The first projection is an empty cafeteria with no action. The second monitor reveals the rehearsal including the director, artists and cameramen, and the third projection shows tails end rolls of film as a series of scratches, blotches, interruptions and deletions – in short, the idea of what never quite starts. On one side in a small glass cabinet a roll of film is displayed – revealing and hiding the idea of product as a final goal..
