TLACOCHAHUAYA

Tlacochahuaya is a palimpsest of anacronic trains of thought interposing painting and video. The installation is composed of a video of the murals of an indigenous church in the town of Tlacochahuaya, Oaxaca, together with the "counter" restauration of the emblematic mural " Dream of a sunday afternoon in Alameda Central" by Diego Rivera. The restauration is a live action which takes place over the duration of the exhibition, and selects only certain elements of Rivera's original, thereby dovetailing different histories, temporalities and significances.
