PARRES TRILOGY

Parres is a small town on the outskirts of Mexico City, halfway to Cuernavaca. It is a town in passing that has left immutable and imperceptible traces on the highway. The series is composed of three videos transferred from 35mm film, Each performative action in each film coincides with one roll of film. The lack of edition in the construction of the image frames an omnipresent glance of the first montajes of cinema, aswell as the duration that produces an afective intensity of a distopian place that traces its own melancholy. In Parres I and III the pictorial monochrome finds its cinematografic counterpart – at the same time the artifice of that cinemátic construction is also revealed. Parres II is a bucolic self portrait that implements the use of rain that covers the screen, activating the monochrome outside the traditional frame of painting.
